Charlene has produced The Empowerment Show for single mothers living in transitional housing shelters who lack economic autonomy and self-sufficiency. Her experiential workshops for the homeless have helped many women from domestic violence scenarios move toward a greater sense of worthiness and self-love. Her work with Lighthouse/PATH has been nationally documented as a way for women to see their community as one of opportunity where they can lead authentic lives with confidence.

Charlene holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Michigan and was a social scientist before joining the consciousness movement. She worked in the areas of environmental technology and created simulated learning environments, later applying her skills as a researcher and educator to women's issues. In addition to her live workshops, Charlene's electronic messages and audio affirmations reach millions of web visitors daily, through MTV/ Nickelodeon Parents Connect, SelfGrowth.com and numerous electronic venues, and the Beliefnet.com Moments of Empowerment program. She is currently profiled in the IPPY Award winning The Courage Code, a book featuring stories of women who are making a difference in the world.
